Forward Resources is developing an industrial-scale secondary copper recycling and refining project in the UAE, focused on the production of high-quality refined copper from recycled feedstock.
The project is being implemented in phases, with an initial capacity of approximately 100,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of refined copper, and a planned expansion to 200,000 tpa.
The facility is designed to process a combination of copper-bearing scrap and secondary materials, including slag, to produce LME-grade copper cathodes and anodes.
The project is strategically positioned within the UAE’s industrial ecosystem, leveraging established infrastructure, logistics, and access to global trade flows.

The project is being developed in the United Arab Emirates, a strategically positioned hub for global metals trade and industrial activity.
The UAE provides direct access to major international shipping routes and established logistics infrastructure, supporting efficient sourcing of raw materials and distribution of finished products.
The selected location benefits from proximity to key regional markets across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, as well as integration within the UAE’s industrial and free zone ecosystem.

The project benefits from structural advantages offered by the UAE and regional market dynamics:
Forward Resources is establishing a scalable platform for secondary copper production in the region, aligned with global trends toward resource efficiency and circular supply chains.

The project’s engineering and process design is being developed in collaboration with China ENFI Engineering Corporation, a leading engineering firm in the global non-ferrous metals sector.
ENFI holds comprehensive Class A engineering design and consulting qualifications and brings extensive experience in the delivery of large-scale metallurgical facilities.
The selected process route delivers high metal recovery from secondary feedstock, supported by consistent product quality, operational stability, and scalability.
ENFI’s involvement supports project bankability and execution.

The project prioritizes environmental performance and resource efficiency:
Environmental considerations are integrated into the core process design and operating philosophy of the facility.

The project has progressed from concept-stage positioning into structured due diligence preparation, supported by engineering, financial, and institutional workstreams:
The development approach is focused on achieving a bankable project structure suitable for institutional financing and long-term operation.

The project is led by an experienced team with backgrounds in metallurgy, engineering, and project development.
Song Bin, Chairman of Forward Resources, brings extensive experience in the global steel and non-ferrous metals industries, including senior leadership roles in large-scale industrial enterprises.
The broader team combines technical, commercial, and financial expertise to support the development and execution of the project.
